Persuasive Mirror

Accenture have just officially unveiled their “Persuasive Mirror” today, the idea being that instead of being a true mirror, a camera picks up your image and after some processing, shows you how you will look in the future.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, how will I look in five years or more? Imagine if your bathroom mirror could predict what you’ll look like in the future.

The Persuasive Mirror combines an LCD monitor, webcams and computer software to show you a realistic reflection of your future self. It does this by monitoring you around the house. Webcams track your movements and feed this information into the mirror’s software system. The software can identify the kind of lifestyle you lead by collecting information about your living habits – visits to the fridge, time spent on the treadmill, it even takes into account lazy days in front of TV.

When you look in the mirror, the reflection will show you what you’ll look like in five years – this could be rewarding or harsh, depending on your lifestyle.

Developed to help motivate and influence positive lifestyle choices the Persuasive Mirror gives you the chance to change your bad behaviour before it’s too late.
